Personality: Anyone who comes Eizen across is unlikely to forget him easily. He's tall, imposing, confident and embodies what it means to be a pirate.
The party's first meeting with him involves him testing the group with a fight against himself. When they pass his test, he flat out says they should team up to get through a fortress. There's no hesitation with asking the very people he fought for assistance. They need to get through this fortress so their goals align. It makes sense to team up. When Velvet says they're not gonna trust a pirate that easily, he stands tall, doesn't wait for the party's assistance and heads off to start doing what needs to be done himself. Most first encounters with Eizen ought to give off this similar impression, namely that he's an intimidating man filled to the brim with confidence. He stands tall, makes choices and accepts the consequences of said choices.
What drives Eizen is the ability to choose and being able to choose his path for himself. Eizen loathes it when people take away that choice from him and will do whatever it takes to drill that point home. If he likes the person, he'll lecture; if he doesn't then he's not beyond more violent methods. Breaking a finger or two to push forward his choices is reasonable. If something stands in his way, such as Zaveid withholding information about Aifread, that usual cool demeanor of his can give way to anger. He's not hotheaded by default, but situations like that can definitely bring it out. Another driving force of his is finding his crew's captain, Aifread. This man is someone he cares greatly about and will do whatever it takes to find him. If you have Eizen's trust, you have a man who will go to the ends of the earth to help you. At times, this can further break that cool and collected demeanor of his and elicit pure recklessness. He chases after Zaveid by himself and then snaps at the party to stay out of their fight. His love of exploration and finding rare items is another thing which drives Eizen. Whether it be art, pottery or all else, Eizen loves it and will happily talk the ear off anyone who's nearby about them. This love can also make him make some irrational decisions. Did he steal his sister's money to buy what ended up a fake replica of an art piece? Yes he did and he regrets it to this day. Which leads to his final and greatest driving force: his little sister, Edna. He loves her dearly. In the game, he sends her letters and little gifts all the time. He doesn't want to be near her due to his curse having hurt her, so gifts is about all he can do.
Flaws are something Eizen very well has and very well acknowledges. He's not a good person. He knows it. He admits it. When they break into Vortigern, he breaks a guy's finger without hesitation when said guy stands in their way of what needs to be done. Another less than charming quality of his is that he has a bluntness about him that can easily come off as intimidating. When he's heavily invested in something, he can easily get hotheaded and obsessive. This can range from being hotheaded in his encounters with Zaveid or arguing with Rokurou about the species of a beetle. For a whole dungeon. Stubbornness is also a negative trait of his, as a note.
Beyond these rough traits of his also exist some more wholesome ones. One such trait is the fact that Eizen is a gigantic nerd under his tough exterior. A good piece of art can get him excited like a little kid at a candy store. He'll get starry eyed and rant about it for ages! This is about one of the few times Eizen can get scammed, too, as noted that he was sold a fake Beryl Benito piece that was too good to pass up. Another positive trait of his is that Eizen is very protective of those who he cares for. If you manage to get on his good side, you have a friend you can rely on and one who will have your back through thick and thin. Eizen's also not too bad of a mentor figure and he ends up frequently serving that role for Laphicet.
So if you want a good friend who's rough around the edges then Eizen's your guy. And, hey, he makes a fantastic drinking buddy!
Abilities & Inventory: Eizen is an earth malak, meaning he has affinity for the earth element. This also means he'll sink like a rock in water. Prior to the start of the game, normal humans wouldn't have been able to see him but that changed due to an event that occurred a few years back. I'm keeping that same deal here that people can see him regardless of any spiritual perception. Due to being a malak, Eizen also ages differently than humans and is over 1000 years old at this point.
One thing to mention about Eizen is that he's stuck with something called the Reaper's Curse. It's essentially severely bad luck that always follows him. I may be toning down the degree of it juusst a little in game (and of course getting permission from others if the curse might drag them in), but it'll very much be present
Eizen is capable of doing a wide array of artes, listed here. In game, I'll be toning this down to just earth and fire (which is a change from the tdm since I initially picked wind whoops). Also, per Lae from when I apped him the first time around, he'll be able to use some healing via the earth tattoo. Healing dirt, yup. He's also really skilled with hand-to-hand combat since his weapon of choice is his fists.
In terms of inventory, the one thing he'll have is his Kharlan coin that serves as his vessel.

ARMADA SELECTION
Corsair. He was a Corsair last time he was here, and I'd like to keep with that. It just fits him best, especially given that he's canonly the first mate of a pirate crew back home. A lot of the qualities of the group fall in line with Eizen's, as well (he takes opportunity as it comes, he loves being out on the ocean to explore and not afraid to dirty his hands when needed).
